Carmen meets Borat
Carmen incontra Borat
Carmen is 17. She lives in Glod, a small gypsy village in the Romanian mountains. She works every day in her father’s store, courted by Christi. Her dreams, however, are to leave this place, but nothing ever happens. Or almost. In fact, one day the troop from the movie Borat comes here to film. No one realizes what it is about. Only when they see the film do the residents of Glod discover that they have been made fun of, as Glod is portrayed as a village in Kazakhistan and its residents are called “whores, thieves and abortionists”. Carmen’s father and grandfather, who had appeared in the film, are now persuaded by two lawyers to ask for 30 million dollars in damages from Twentieth Century Fox. And they begin to fantasize about what they could do with this money. But when they return from a disappointing trip to London, the two are suspected of having taken money behind the backs of their fellow villagers. Everything remains as it was before, in Glod. As for Carmen, only her dreams remain along with a new boyfriend who really loves her.
