ECHOES
Keeping alive a minority language signifies resisting standardisation. The sounds of Romansh, one of the four official languages of Switzerland, harmonise with the landscape of the Grisons and are deeply connected to the rural world, whose identity and culture they reflect. Preserving the poetry, sonority, and specific terms is a way of passing on to the young the teachings of their ancestors, transmitting in this way the importance of protecting one’s culture and diversity.
