OLGA – TO MY FRIENDS
OLGA – AI MIEI AMICI
In the Russian region of Lapland, 1800 kilometres north of Moscow, temperatures often plunge to more than twenty degrees below zero. Although this environment is hostile to human life, men have learned over thousands of years to coexist with this land, its animals, the snow, ice, and long polar nights. Olga lives in a little house covered by a thick blanket of snow. Hers is a hard life, a tortured existence. Through her eyes, observing the vehicles of the reindeer herders who bring provisions and that won’t return until springtime, we experience the long, Lappish winter.
